As we are ‘dashing too and fro’ to holiday parties and
gatherings, knowing proper etiquette is a must. Here are 5 helpful tips for proper etiquette when going to a holiday party.
1. R.S.V.P.: It is
always a good idea to let your host/hostess know if you will be attending or
not. This courteous reply will help them plan the party better for food and
drinks. Many times, people tend to get busy, especially during the holidays and
forget to reply, but it is always good to remember to do so.
2. What to Bring: Always ask the host/hostess if you are to
bring some sort of food item. They may say it isn’t necessary, but it is always
a good idea to bring a gift to the hostess. A couple easy thoughtful gifts
would be a bottle of wine or flowers. Any thoughtful gift would be appreciated.
3. What to Wear: Check your invitation if there is a proper
dress code. If you aren’t sure, you may always contact the host/hostess for
clarification. Be sure to not dress too casual for an important event.
4. When to Arrive: Never arrive to early, the host/hostess
may be still setting up the event and you then could become a distracting
annoyance. Instead, arrive 10 to 15 minutes of the time noted on the
invitation. If you plan on being more than 30 minutes late, contact the
host/hostess.
5. Send a Thank You Note: A Host/Hostess appreciates a
thoughtful note in the mail after going through much effort in throwing a party
or event. It makes the time and energy worth while knowing that you took time
out of our busy schedule to say a simple thank you.
Following these simple 5 helpful tips will help you in your etiquette
for holiday parties.
